Heading up through Int Falls. Can anyone tell me what it was like crossing the boarder? Long lines, getting your car and boat torn apart? Hopefully the freindly relations along the longest unarmed boarder in the world is still intact. Hope the fishing is good too!!

I live near Detroit and hear the traffic reports everyday. Seems its no trouble going into Canada, but returning can be an hour wait. I dont know about checking boats ,though. They have been opening trunks, looking under hoods of all vehicles when in the past they would only do spot checks.

As soon as we hit Afghanistan they doubled the security on the boarders on land sea and air.
Unfortunately they do expect another round of terrorism so they are not taking any chances.
Personally I don't mind the wait, because if any of them chicken $#!^ terrorist basterds get in it could be much worse this time.

We just returned from Newfoundland at the Peace bridge in Buffalo. Getting into the U.S. was no problem. The line going into Canada was VERY long.

I am heading over in a week and I am wondering if I should worry about a passport or will my driver license work like it has in the past?

Your SSI card is handy if they get very inquisitive. As long as your a US national no passport is needed, so far anyway.

Good luck crossing the boarder. I was just through there this past week. If you have any type of criminal record be prepared to pay. And if it has happened in the past 5 years you might just as well not even try to go through. I am not sure if they are checking everyone or just hunters. I know there was a 50 y/o guy who stole some hubcaps back in 1961 and they held him from Sat. when he tried to cross until Monday when he could get clearence by the Supervisor. Like I said I am not sure if they are doing back round checks on everyone but be prepared to wait. Coming back to US they tore us completely down. As a matter of fact they tore all vehicles down when we were there. We crossed at Portal, ND. Good Luck
