I troll 3-5'deep sand/stump flats 2.5-3.5mph with crankbaits and my 60hp Merc. This is on WI River flowages flatlining 20 ft. behind the boat. Would I catch more or fewer eyes if I went to an electric trolling motor instead of the gas motor??
Seems to me the motor noise and vibration bubbles etc. gets these fish looking my direction, but I notice carp spooking from 30-40' away. Do the eyes just move off to the side where the cranks are? I catch alot of them but would the electric produce more??
Thanks, Herky

The instant change of speed when you nail a stump really gets them followers fired up :)

I have the same thing going here in MN on a very stained lake. 2-5 ft of water 20-30ftbehind the boat in the prop wash! Very strange but true. We have tried up to 100 ft of line out...fewer fish. Boards...fewer fish. Tried casting...fewer fish. It's a fairly busy lake near the cities..all I can figure is the fish find injured or disoriented baitfish or panfish as the boats come through. Motors mean chow time? I don't really know why, but it works.
