Has anyone used one of these on open water yet? Any comments?

OK I'll bite what is a FL-18? I have a FL-8 I use for ice fishing and as a spare in my boat. It works great for ice but for the type of river fishing I do I use it s a back up and for the extra guy in the middle who is always asking how deep are we.

I use a FL-8 on the ice & on my guide rig and love it. I also have used the new FL-18 and find it a great upgrade on the older FL-8. mostly due to the option to use both cone angles to zero in on fish. Wide to search, and narrow to hone in on the target fish one you locate them.

I plan to run a Vexilar Edge and a FL-18 on my river rig next season, look out fish, no were to hide now!

The FL-8 has the dual cone transducer as well so that's nothing new (9° and 19°).

The FL-18 has a 6' bottom lock feature that is new along with a brighter display.
