On November 3rd warden Stone out of Wis. arrester 3 people from Illinios with approximately 150 walleye/sauger in possession. Two lund boats and fishing equitment were seized. All fish caught below lock #3 at Red Wing. I read this first on (Fish the river .com). People like this shouldn't be allowed to hunt and fish anywhere again. When as sportsman and women do we raise enough ##### about this and get these slob fisherman and hunters away from our sport. This is the same as stealing from every fisherman out there that fishes.

Just aquestion? Does Wisconsin have any law that allows the DNR to confiscate the offenders vehicle? In Michigan, we have that provision. That guy would have lost his boat/trailer/fishing gear, and possibly the tow vehicle in addition to the fines/sentences imposed. This would seem a necessary "incentive" to keep individuals from blatantly violating fish and game laws.

In Saskatchewan, I think our DNR folks have similar powers - boat, trailer, gear, even the tow vehicle. I say good - these people did not making an innocent mistake. Walleye sportfishing is a privilege - one that is becoming increasingly rare, and one which we should jealously protect.
Maybe this is why DNR guys are not always so nice to us - catching even one of these ba$tards would pi$$ me off for about a year. Given this, we can't have them less vigilant. I'm gonna try and remember this the next time I'm pulled over to have my cooler/boat/vehicle searched.
I just hope their punishment is sufficient to give anyone pause when they think about poaching.

Hoooooooorraaaaaaaaaay for the DNR. Now I hope that the Michigan DNR keep up the good work and keep patrolling Little Bay de Noc. They may want to start checking the freezers at the resorts. I don't think that the resorts are doing a good enough job monitoring it themselves.
Wisconsin DNR does have power to confiscate the cars.

I work with a woman who's husband is a WI DNR Warden/District Manager, and they can confiscate vehicles. By the way, I guess you can get some really good stuff at there auctions!!!

What's needed in these cases is for more states to join the Wildlife Violator Compact. Currently 13 Western states are members. If someone violates the law like this in one of the 13 member states and the judge decides to take away their hunting and fishing privileges in that state, they can't get a license in any of the other Compact states either.
The trouble with this case is that after the violators pay their fines, get their gear confiscated or whatever, they go back to their home states -- or YOUR state -- and can still buy a license and continue to hunt and fish. For some folks, the fines are just a minor inconvenience. What's needed is to get these folks out of the field EVERYWHERE. -- mark

Here! Here! I say draw a quarter them. Or at least take their house right along with the gear!!! If your that far over the limit you definately were doing it on purpose. So I say they need to add to the fine take their houses!!! See if that goes over with the little woman when it gets home. Craig
