I've been trying to pull up their web site for the last couple of weeks and come up with nothing. Does anyone know if they're changing their site or what the situation is? I'm hoping the company isn't in trouble.

My understanding is that they were making their rods with Loomis blanks. Not sure, but I think Loomis isn't selling their blanks to third parties any longer (maybe someone can verify this). If so, they may have had to change their rod building perameters or shut down. I don't own one, however a buddy and neighbor of mine had bought one and unfortunately it broke 3 times in the same spot. I was with him for two of those and he did NOT abuse it at all. Simply set the hook with a wrist snap and the rod snapped off about a foot from the tip. They replaced it all three times, but he sure isn't happy about it. I'm not trying to knock their product, just telling what I know.

The last time I spoke with Kevin this summer, all was well. I can't get throught to the site either but I will try his number and see if "bidness is bidness"

I to have had unfortunate luck with my 2 Figrig rods. They both broke with a minimum of stress. I got one replaced and it broke. I have givin up on them and am chalking it up as an unfortunate experience. I don't think they are Loomis blanks unless Figrig changed there supplier since I bought mine.

Now that is a quirky deal. Two rods? with a min of pressure? Hmmm. Well some of us have all the luck.

However, to my knowledge Kevin has only used Loomis and Croix blanks. Least that is what mine are. 3 years and not one has broken. I took a nice 8 pounder on Ottertail this summer with my little FigRig, too.

In response to Aguaman The 3 rods that broke were at the same place just above the second line guide from the tip top. I recieved one rod in a shipping container from a supplier of blanks and they were not from ST Croix or Loomis. I didn't think that the manufacturers you mention put fiber optic strands in there rods unless Kevin puts them in after they get the blanks. I own two Loomis rods and have not had this problem with them. I had a witness when my rods broke and he was amazed how little a load I had on the rod when it broke. It seems strange to me that all three broke at the very same place unless there was a flaw in the blank or the manufacturing of the rod. I handled them very carefully since they represent quite an investment but to no avail.

Glad someone else out there went through the same experience. I hated to be the only one to sound negative. My buddies rods broke in the exact same place you speak of. I wonder if they didn't get a bad batch of blanks?
