I need you guys help. I just bought a new baitcast combo. I was putting line on the other night and it didn't spool on evenly, one side is deeper than the other. What did I do wrong? This has never happened before.

Sounds like you were holding the line off to one side as you spooled it. Beleave it or not you can infuence the lay of the line by doing this even on reels with line guides. What I do is watch witch side is getting heavy or if the line is starting to bunch up on the sides as you fill it. By pushing the line off to the opposite side you'll get the line to even out, or you can keep it spooling over the center longer to keep it from bunching up on the outsides.

Take it out to deep water and put on a shallow bait, while trolling, let out most of the line and simply reel in using the bait for tension rather than pinching the line and if your reel has a level wind feature it should be relatively even. By the time you have a bunch of line in the water, this will work even w/o the bait and will remove any twist from the line.
