I always have used magnathin line. However, recently one of the pros posted (mike p.) that his favorite line was green silver thread. So I bought a 3000 yard spool. (It was attractive, 1/3 price of magnathin.)

After 3 attempts to get it on the reel. I gave up.
Tried putting in on a dowel rod and reeling on the reel and also spooling on from the refill spool stationary on the floor.

Each time, when I released the bail. Like a spring the line went CRAZY like no other line I have ever seen.

I figured okay maybe if I can get out on the water and let out the line behind the boat all will be well.

Well any slack at all on the reel and the line spools of the reel. I don't think I could even get it off the reel to get it into the water without a rat's nest.

Besides that kinda problem on the water is not work the risk. Go back to what works.

Any comments out there regarding this line?

Last year I spooled up 2 trolling reels with 10# silver thread for inline planer boards. I had miserable luck with it also. It got real kinky and stiff and I ended up stipping it off and going back to good old stren. I guess you always go back to what works.

I'm suprised to hear all the problems, it's my line of choice. I make it a point to buy it. I'm not sponsored by them so I have nothing to gain by telling you this, but I am suprised.

One thing I always do that maybe you aren't (no matter what line it is). I put the spool in a bucket of water and reel kinda fast so it spins good and add tension with my fingers. Always goes on the right way with no spring back.

If you want to get rid of that spool of green 10 pound, I'll take it off your hands, I love the stuff.

I love the stuff too, and no I'm not sponsored by them either. I have not had the problems your talking about. I use it on all my reels, for all applications. I can only guess, if it is doing what you describe, that it was spooled on wrong (backwards),or you have put too much on. One way to fix it might be to let all of it out behind the boat while moving, (without a lure on), and then reel it all in again. It will take the twist out of it for you, if it was in fact put on backwards.
Like Golden said, if you want to get rid of it...I will take it off your hands too! :-)

Spoke with the technical dept with silver thread.

Here is their recommendation for putting the line on. I'm will give the line another try.

Place dowel rod in the spool with label up (spool is vertical, not horizontal like I was doing)

Reel the line thru a phone book for some minor pressure.
