Hi I have a week and a half to go fishing this spring. So I was wondering where I should head off to? I live near Green Bay Wi. I have a 15.5 foot boat.I am willing to travel to Canada or anywhere in the midwest. In search of numbers and big eye's. I am fairly new to fishing for walleyes.

Theres only two places to be in my opinion-pool
4-11 On the MISSISSIPPI I fish pool 7-8-9 almost daily-limits over six lbs each are common and late
april early May the ST.Louis River. Thousands of 2-8Lb fish in realitively small area. if ya want details e-mail ecklor@hotmail.com

The St Louis doesn't open till mid May, with the MN general opener. I wish it opened earlier. Lots of fish anyway and plenty from 4 lbs and up. If you come to the St Louis, e-mail me. I guide here.
Another alternative is Chequamagon Bay at Ashland,WI. Late April through May can be hot for big walleyes and May is generally the best time for the Bay's famous smallmouths. Lots of nice pike, too, average probally 8 to 10 lbs. The St Louis and the Bay are only a little over an hour apart and there are several pretty fair walleye lakes within 20 min. of Duluth,MN. The St Louis boarders WI on one side and MN on the other, so your WI resident lisence will cover you there. Lake Superior is just outside the Duluth / Superior harbor, too. The river has over 12,000 surface acres of water and 22 miles from the dam to the lake. 90% is fishable walleye water.

I agree with Mountain, I fish the miss all the time at Genoa and Liberty and its fantastic, people are friendly and full of info. Since your so close whats wrong with the bay by you? giant small mouth, big walleye and some northerns, just look at Dale Stroshien(Spelling?) and the number of eyes he catches out of his resort. Yopu could go to Bay de Noc and learn to troll for monsters 10+ are common. I like to fish Du Bay by Stevens Point you can limit out in 1/2 hour. your right in the center of some great fishing e-mail me and we can discuss it as little more if you like Jim

check out Lynxville WI, it's a dam w/ a bunk house for $15.00 a night w/ a restaurant right there. there is also a place in Guttinburg WI you might want to check out as well. Good luck.

If u r fishing for walleye, I would highly reccomened the detroit or St. clair river in Michigan. They are both great trolling , jiggin' and riggin spots!

The Bay De Noc, your backyard. If your wanting to get away try Erie, Catawba Island area or Lake St. Clair. It really depends on the time of year you plan to be fishin'.

If you have a small motor(25hp or less) you can get a permit to go in the boundry waters the moose chain has fish, and they are EASY. Or you can go down to basswood (state record pike) it's all great. I'm going in twice this spring before it all burns up due to the winds on 4th july 99.

If you like to fish in the open wilderness and
don't like alot of competition. The place to go is
Merritt Resevoir at Valentine NE.
The 'Eyes are big and plentiful.
Slip bobbering in May and June is awesome!!
Good Luck.
