Heard fishing in the Minneapolis area has been good. My buddy and I were thinking of heading down by the Ford Dam or ??

What we're not sure of is where to put in and if this is the best area to be in.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

All I can tell you is that right now is the time to be on the mississippi at redwing, lock and dam #3 and anywhere south of there below any of the lock and dam's. It is usually hot right now. Good fishing.

I'm also going on Tues, the 28th to Redwing and have heard that jigs on three ways with rattles are working good. Also crawlers were doing very well. Hope to see you on the water.

Just remember fishing in that strech of the mississippi is catch and release only . You can put in down stream by fort snelling or up stream south of the plymouth bridge.

There is a park just south of the ford dam that has a launch ramp. I was down there last friday and in about 11 ft on the left side of the dam was producing eyes for me. They were hitting fatheadson 1/16 ounce chartruse jigs. We landed 12 eyes between 1-3 lbs and caught a mooneye also. Hopfully you will have some good luck.
