wife's going to okoboji for business on april 15, wondered if anything biting on any okoboji lakes, know that walleye opener isn't until may, but wondered if locals frown on catch and release before opener or not, also would fish crappies/bass if biting. don't want to miss the opportunity for the free trip while the wife works!!!

I spent 18 years living on the lake there and it can be a good smallie spot that early, especially with the weather the way it is. Bass never closes there so try smallies, you will probably catch a few walleyes too. Look to fort dodge/ pilbury points, the edges where the rock meets the sand. Also, gull pint could be good. Stop in at shucks and thell give you some good info. Live bait rigs or jigs fished slow will be the ticket. West lake would be my choice.
