I am thinking of fishing Sakakawea around July 8 I've never been there, and would love to see the country and the lake. My problem is, it's a big lake. Where could I find walleye in July and where would be a good place to get a motel room close. Thanks a bunch and good luck,
Bucko

I don't know how much help this is, but I've fished the deepwater bay area several times in july over the years, and had very good fishing. We stayed in a friends cabin, so I don't know about lodging, but I would consider it for the fishing.

You could check into the Beulah Bay area. Dakota Waters Resort has a motel and campground, bait, tackle, gas, guides, everything you will need.
It is located about 15 miles north of Beulah, North Dakota. Beulah has nice motels, good food, friendly people. It is my home town!
You can try this web site to look for other Sakakawea fishing.

I fished up there the end of June last year. The water temp on the main lake was 50. Fished out Indian Hills Resort. They have Cabins you can rent by the night. Caught a lot of small walleyes and sauger.

Hey Bucko!
I agree with Jon'eye about the Beulah Bay area. I live in Beulah and the area provides excellent fishing and has lodging in the area if needed.
Other areas include Pick City/Riverdale area near the Garrison Dam, Indian Hills Resort, and Fort Stevenson near Garrison. The lake is huge, but I think these reaches of the lake would be the best bet for walleye fishing in July.
If you need some phone numbers in the area, email me and I can get them to you. See ya on the water!
