Some friends and I, five in all, will be coming to Mobridge, SD the first week in June for a full week of fishing. Any tips, ideas, etc., will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JackSalmon.

You might want to get some up to date fishing reports about Mobridge before you commit to that trip the first week in June.

I usually go to Mobridge the first week in June and have done so for years. I love Oahe and the fishing has usually been great, however, in June of 98 there were lots of walleyes but they were small and in June of 99 they were still small and a lot more difficult to come up with numbers of fish. I noticed that a PWT tournament ( I think it was PWT} that I saw on TV indicated that small fish were predominant. Supposedly the problem is that a few years ago Oahe lost about seventy five percent of its smelt baitfish when the tremendous floods in the Dakotas resulted in lots of water that had to be released from Oahe and the Stilling Basin at Pierre was allowed to run full blast for about three months straight.

If you go to Mobridge I would recommend the MoRest Motel that is run by Dennis Palmer and his wife. It is not fancy but it is clean and Denny does some guiding and is willing to share information if you ask him. His motel rates are reasonable.
