Anyone else going to be on Minnetonka this weekend? Saturday or Sunday?

I plan on fishing out of the Wayzata Bay area. I will probably use the public access at Maxwell Bay, and make my way under the Arcola Bridge to Wayzata bay and few spots I have caught fish in the past. NW side of Gale Island, Swift's point are my favorite hangouts.

Hope to put in around 6:30 am, and hunt for some walleyes, then around 10:00 or so, look for some of the big crappies.

I usually stop in to Haskel's in the Port of Excelsior for lunch around noon, and tie my boat to the public docks.

Should be a 2-3-4 of us in a blue with red stripe 1990 Alumacraft Trophy 170, 100 hp Evinrude.

Good luck to everyone, and maybe I'll see you on the water.

I have to wonder how you did on opener. I also planned to go to Tonka and work plastic around Big Island. The wind kept me in the garage all day getting my jigs ready and going nuts. I saw a lot of cold walleye hunters at the landing. I wonder if the walleyes are tight to shore on the windy side of the lake.Last year we popped a bunch of 3 to 4 lbs. off Gibsons point and up to Big Island with Shad Raps and Power Bait 3 inch grubs. I will wait for less wind and more of a walleye chop. Good luck and good fishing. Westcoast Joe

I was out in the windfest on Saturday. All we could do was limp to the protected side of Swift's point, and hang out there. But then again, that is one of my favorite spots, and it was well protected.

Caught some nice crappies, many northern, several bass, and 2 walleyes. Both walleyes were small. The crappies were mighty tasty later in the evening. We were fishing 6-12' using 1/8 oz tube jigs with slip bobbers tipped with a minnow. The crappies shut down at noon, but we continued to catch other fish.

It was just too windy to try much else. All in all it was a good day of fishing.
