Gary:
I have fished Winnie several times in early June. Bite can be very good. We were there last year late-May/early June and caught lots of walleyes on the west side dragging eighth ounce Fire-ball jigs with minnows in 6-9 feet of water. Parrot and bubble-gum were the best colors. A stinger hook on the Fire-ball was a big help. Stinger accounted for over half the fish.
Be sure to remember the new slot-limit on Winnie.
