I am planning a trip to Phillips Wisc for A Grouse hunt in early oct. and noticed alot of people fishing for eye's and musky could anyone tell me a good lake for eye's in that area? My dogs will need a rest,as well as me and I would like to fish for eye's.We will be staying at Paynes Deer Creek Lodge starting 10/7/00 thanks! The guy's I fish with in Canada say that the lakes are fished out but I don't believe that

I would suggest driving up to the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. Especially at that time of the year. While I don't fish in the fall, all of my friends that do like the Turtle. I believe it is about 45 minutes to an hour from Phillips to the Springstead landing.
You might want to check out the web site for the TFF, it is #####://www.turtleflambeauflowage.com/fishing.htm

Oleruff,
One more suggestion, you might want to check with some of the local bait shops up there. I use to have a phone number of one in Phillips, but I am not finding it. In Park Falls, Bridge Bait & Tackle phone number is 715 762-4108. It might save you some driving time.
One more thing, leave some birds for me!

oleruff,
Unfortunately I live in southern Wisconsin. But I try to escape to Price County as much as I can. I have a couple of friends who have places up there and it is an enjoyable place to visit. So far it still has a down home feel, unlike Minocqua.
If you are lookimg for a good inexpensive meal, try Bonnies in Phillips. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and have never been disappointed.

Next time either of you are up there, stop by Mr.Pikes cottage! Fritz, my place is on springstead road. I too will almost certainly be there bird hunting and bow hunting and maybe even sneaking a few hours of fishing in !!! Really enjoy that area! Good luck to both of you guys! <;{{{{{<<( Mr.Pike

Oleruff,
I second Fritz's idea of driving up to the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage for some October eyes. I live on the TFF and October eye fishing can be fantastic.
Also, you may want to check out the Mercer, WI web page for fishing reports on the TFF. The URL is: www.mercerwi.com/fishrpt.htm
If you have never fished the Flowage, you may have better luck getting a guide for a half or full day. Both Don Pemble and Doc Sabec (also on the Mercer web page) guide on the TFF daily and usually put people on fish.
Tight Lines and straight shooting!!
