This past Sunday the wife and I had good luck on Red Rock pulling a blue and white shad rap and a blue and silver rattle trap along the old river channel in 15-25 feet of water. Give it a try, might work on Saylorville.
Keep your rod bent!!

Best way to catch wipers in Saylorville is to troll. Deep running plug that looks like a shad. East side by the marina or by Cherry Glen is the best. If you see them boiling at the top, just through into them or to the side of the fish and hang on. If you don't have a boat, by Cherry glen, there is a jet ski boat ramp area. Wade about waist deep, throw twister tails or plugs. July-August is the best time to catch them at Saylorville. If you want to go fishing sometime, e-mail me.

Thanx,

Brian

In Saylorville some people say wipers when they mean white bass. I have caught many white bass up to 2 lbs in Saylorville along sandpiper, so don't be suprized if you end up with white bass instead. I know there are wipers in there, but the white bass are more plentiful and also a blast to catch. (look for surfacing baitfish and seagulls)!

have fun

I've adapted something that I picked up on this board to wiper fishing (in Kansas & Nebraska), and it's making me feel really smart (at least it's making me feel like a good reader).
I've been running a flutter spoon above and behind my favorite crankbaits on a three-way (swivel) rig, and have had excellent success.

1) Either mark the fish on your electronics, or visually (birds, baitfish popping out of the water, etc.).
2) Troll the edges of the school. You don't have to put the baits right in the middle of the school of fish, a wiper will be more than happy to run either vertically or horizontally when he's got feedin' on his mind. And if you troll directly through the school, you can spook the fish.
3) Keep your drag relatively loose, and hang on!

I've been catching wipers on both the crankbait & the spoon, with the balance weighted a bit in favor of the spoons. I had two 22-inchers (from the same school) attack the baits on one rig at the same time this past Sunday -- needless to say, they went different directions, and I only boated one of them -- what an adrenalin rush.
As far as the spoons are concerned, keep them thin, and a little larger than the baitfish the wipers are feeding on.

Oh yeah -- I release the wipers and keep a few of the 11" to 14" white bass that are usually chasing the same baitfish if I want some fresh, crispy fillets. If you catch-photo-weigh (or measure)-release the wipers, they just get bigger & bigger!
