Has anyone had any experiences with using circle hooks on snells or spinner rigs? Have been reading alot about them and was wondering if th hype was all it's built up to be.

I have just bought some to try on snells as well. In the past there have been several positive posts on the circle hooks. Sounds like they work as advertised, fish always hooked in the corner of the mouth. The one thing everyone before indicated was that you don't set the hook, just lift the rod and start reeling.

I'm leaving on 8/5 for a week of fishing and will post some feedback on them when I get back. I may try having the kids use them as well 'cause they tend to end up with lots of bluegills with the hook swallowed.

I used circle hooks(Eagle Claw) last fall for the first time while taping a show with Scott Golden and Zach Boudreau. Missed the first walleye because I set the hook in the traditional manner. Didn't miss any after that, and all fish were hooked in the corner of the mouth for easy release. When you have a strike, just start reeling and lift the rod tip. Don't set the hook. My experiences with circle hooks has been very positive.

I have used them under a slip bobber and I was disappointed. Missed a lot of fish and a few were still deep hooked. I tried reeling slow, fast and everything in between to hook up and nothing worked very well. I used circle hooks on 2 rods and Kahle on another rod and the kahle almost never missed, the circle hooks hooked up only 1/3 of the time. Have not tried them on anything except slip bobbers, so maybe they work great in another application. Good luck.

Started using them this past fall for live bait rigs. They worked as advertised. My son put a 6 lb walleye in the boat - hooked in the side of the mouth. I use some various sizes based on the size and type of bait that I use. The boy was using a 4 inch rainbow and we had a #4 circle hook. I still use other types of hooks for other presentations. Bobber fishing has me using either a standard jig or a kahle. The octopus hooks still seem to work well for the leech and crawler harnesses. The #2 wire aberdeen for larger minnows also is effective.

I've used circle hooks while driting the Grand River, using crawlers. Hook up rate is about 99 percent. Eagle Claw #4 teflon coated hooks. The future use of these hooks look bright. Their almost idiot proof!

I have used the Kale hook for years in ice fishing with tipups. I fished with Bob and we did an tip up show for northern. We were using 4 to 5 inch sucker chubs and all the northern hooked themselves and all in the corner of the mouth. The best tipup hook that I have used.
