Hi I am tring to plan a fishing trip for this spring. Some time around late March to late April, for about 10 days. I was wondering if I could get some ideas of places to go. Would like to fish walleye's.
Thanks

Yeh ERIE,
The only thing wrong with going to Erie this spring is that the state is changing the limit. This spring it will be 2 fish a day in March and April whether it be in the rivers there or a boat in the lake. That is what I heard. You can go and catch them and turn them back and just keep your 2 biggest or smallest how ever you would like.

Hi BIGRAY I might be wrong but I heard from 3/1/01 to 4/1/01 the limit is 4 walleye and after that it's 6 a day.

Detroit River! You still have the option of dropping down into Lake Erie if you wish, but normally you will find all the fish you need in the river! Tight Lines

In between the Dakotas and Erie you could try Wisconsin's Wolf River. Look for Doc's "Walleye on the Wolf " website. I think it's on the links page. If not email me for the info.

Lake Erie out of the Port Clinton area, in mid to late April. Big Fish!

If you live close to the Detroit River I second Frogman's advice. Fishing normally starts in early April (the first eastern PWT will be there the first week in April), and runs into May. You have an excellent chance for taking a 10 and because it is a river system you will almost never be winded off and you can, at most times fish it out of a 14 foot boat. It is a great jig bite if the river is clear; if it's muddy the fishing goes to a three-way rig with shallow running cranks; chartreuse is always good. Motels fill up fast; I have made my reservations for next April already. There is a Knights Inn and a Best Western at West Road and I75 that are close to the action. If you need more info, e-mail me. Good Luck Jigger

Thanks for the great Info...
I think we are going to plan the trip to Detroit river.
So here is a few questions.
1. When should we plan to go? we have open dates from March to late April.

2. How will the PWT effect the fishing if we plan to come right after it?

3. Where do u normally launch your boats from?

4. Is there a fishng map of the river that I can buy?

5. What are the fishing regulations? and cost of a outstate fishing lic's?

6. What is the normal fishing equipment used? jigs what size? what pound test is best to use?

7.anything else u can think of?

thanks for the info maybe i'll see u down there and can buy u case of beer..

Without question, Lake Erie. If you like to catch fish jigging, they're there for the taking. If you like trolling, the trolling bite is great. Also, bonus Smallies if you're interested.
