Looking to purchase a new portable shelter. was considering a Clam but then I saw the Fabril. Its $100 more (499 vs 399) but it is bigger. Would be interested in comments from anyone out there who owns either one. Thanks

If you are looking at the Frabill Ranger XLTwin, I would strongly recommend looking at the Fish Trap Guide. The units are about the same dimensions, however the Fish Trap is about 30# lighter. I have the Ranger, and other than some problems with Frabill customer service, my only complaint is the weight. The Ranger weighs 90# dry and after adding equipment it's more like 100#. Gets rather heavy pulling around. Due to the weight I probably don't move around as much as I should. If I were to replace my Ranger today I would go with the Fish Trap Guide. Good Luck in your decision. Fred

If you are looking at suit case style of a house go with the frabil but if you are looking at a flip over go with a Polar Sport they are hands down the best flip over on the market
just for so advise I work at a sporting goods store and we sold 5to1 flipovers to suitcase style houses and on top of that we sold about 3to1 Polar Sports to any other house in stock check out Polar at their web site www.polarsport.com and by the way go with a flipover you will be much happier.

good fishing,

I happen to be in the sporting goods bussiness, and would like to tell you the good and bad of both. The clam is lighter weightdo to its new tarp and lighter plastic and the bottom(more than strong enough in both areas)the 2 man guide unit does not have a zippered door where the 3 man unit will.Weight on the 2 man unit comes in at about62pnds wher the 3 man comes to about 82. the seat are easily removable witch is where it seperates itself from the frabile, witch has a non removable bench seat that is not half as comfortableand makes it more difficult to store ones gear. there are a few more models that one should also look at if your interested email me or call me at 334-7767 Scheels 41st area code 605 even if you dont get something from us I'd be more than happy to guide you to the best shack to suit your needs.
