I have stayed at Glenwood a number of times but have never been there for the early part of the season.
We do very well in August and Sept using crankbaits such as Big O and Shadrap and Sparkletails.
I must confess that I catch enough walleye to eat but spend most of the time fishing for smallmouth
I think that a fellow that posts by the name of Hans can help you.

Try fishing near the falls of Trout lake. It is a good early season area to fish.

No matter whwer eyou try, make sure it's not to deep. It could be a normal-late ice-out this year, the water will be colder, the active fish will probably be in 15ft and less concentrating around the first drop off near shore. Make sure to fish the shallow windy shores. Live bait, 1/16 jigs, lindys, and cranks at night unless the day bite is hot. Good Luck

Hans,

Thanx for sharing. Are you using he standard Jig/Minnow?
Do you have a place on Vermilion?
I am all the way East (Armstrong Bay) on Coal Point.
I did try the email you listed but have yet to see anything come back???

See ya on the water!

P.S. Ice-off date?

All those spots I mention are on the west end, in the various bays west of Oak Narrows. Look for similar shallow (15 feet or less).

I don't have a cabin up there, but fish Vermilion about 45 days each summer, mostly on the west end. Jig/minnow, or rigged minnow crawler. Ice out looks late this year, unless we have a BIG increase in temps -- late April, maybe even first week of May.
