My partner and I have recently started fishing inland waters. We both had boats on lake michigan. My question is, we soon would like to try fishing on the rock river out of Fort Atkinson/Jefferson. Could anyone offer launch sites and places to start and possible techniques

assume that you are talking about the area near Lake Koshkanong. If so, you can launch on the Lake at "Charlie's Bluff" and head upriver. Maybe there is one closer to Ft Atkinson

There is a ramp in downtown Fort Atkison right by the
railroad bridge across the river from the park

I want to thank you for your reply, we are not from that area, are you able to give street names or highway numbers to get to these areas. Is this ramp capable of handling any size boat, I know some ramps are shallower then others. Is this near the lake or by the dam.

the ramps in fort are able to handle anything you have unless the river is extremly low .the one across from the park is in the center of town off of hwy 26.I beleave its hwy 104 (i could be wrong ive spent alot of hours on that water and with time and age the memmories of rds.fade but my truck could find its way there blindfolded)one block south of the mac donalds , and theres a good one up river on the old 26 across from kmart. Also there are a couple down river towards the mouth of the lake that are owned by taverns.word of advice in fort atkison go slow no wake and there is no motor trolling on the river but you can on the lake doesnt make sense but it has been the law for years unless they changed it this year which i am not aware of.
may the water be flat ahead of you

I want to thank you for your reply. I know most anglers don't want to share their spots, but if you have anyplace for us to start after launching, it would be greatly appreciated. we do have a gps if you have the coordinates.

if you launch in town across from the park go right under the rail road tressel and under the hwy bridge keep head ind down river the depth should be from 4 to 6 feet on your right will be a wall where there will be shore fisherman the drift from the center pillar down river to the end of this wall and the next 100 or so yards always produce fish but dont hesitate to fish the shore line drops on both side of the river lite jigs tips with shinners produce farther down river on the right you will see a marina straight across the river the brush filled bank also hides rock pile and sometimes hold large fish 9-12lb i have caught there if you keep going down river you will see where everybody is fishing and start to devolope a pattern to the holes.i can not stress enough that the fishing is as good if not better some days up river towards the dam but watch your self as there are some nasty rock piles in this river mostly up stream from fort but also some logs and who knows what
i hope this helps if i can help anymore email me and i will try shahn64241@aol
From the launch in fort atkinson go up river past the no-wake zone and you will see another river coming in(the bark)everyone will be fishing the mouth.Out from all the boats there is a 15-17' hole, use a 1/2oz. jig w/stinger and vertical that hole. You will catch less fish then all the boats at the mouth but yours will be larger(legals).Any smaller jig and you will lose contact because of current.Good Luck!!!
