I will be heading to Leech Lake the week of Aug. 4th. I have only fished for walleyes on Millaces using the slip bobber tecnique.
I would like any info on how to fish on Leech for walleyes during the hot summer. Should I be fishing with leeches, crawlers, minnows, Rapalas ect.? Should I fish deep or shallow? I have tried to Lindy Rig before but I always seem to have a great deal of line twist or the hook gets tangled around the line. The other problem I always seem to have, is when fishing with a crawler either sunfish or perch seem to eat the crawler until there is just a little stub left on the hook. I have tried to let out line to give the fish time to take the bait but I cant seem to catch anything. I am also not quite sure when you know it is a walleye bite or a perch or sunfish. Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Gary
