Looking to do some perch fishing in the next week and would really appreciate any information you might have. I live in LeMars, Ia and would be willing to travel 4 hrs one way at the max. Looking for a sleeper lake in S.W. Minnesota, N.W. Iowa, or S.E. South Dakota.
Thanks... Spider

Reading info on the web and it sounds like they are biting on Thompson. 3/4 to 1 lb perch with some limits.

Haven't been there myself. I think I would go to Waubay right now. They are biting like crazy up there, mainly 9-11".

Spiderman-

I live in Orange City and have had luck on Big Spirit. 7" to 9", but it seems you have to be there at the right time. A friend of mine has had luck on Shakatan sp? in SW Minnesota last year. Also Big Stone in Ortonville, MN produced for us about 3 weeks ago and according to the reports on the net is starting to turn on this fall. We caught some jumbos up there and I am heading there ASAP, but I got roped into roofing this weekend. Everything I've caught so far has been on ultralight tackle and an ice fishing jig with either a wax worm or a very small leech.

Try ktwb.com or glpta.org for a fishing report of that area.
