Spent last Saturday on OtterTail Lake in western Minnesota and, as it was the week before, the fishing was excellent. Two partners and I caught good numbers of fish in the 15-18" size range using sucker minnows on Roach Rigs. We fished a small weedline area in 16-20 foot of water where the weeds were still green. To cap an excellent day on the water, we caught and released a 29-inch walleye late in the afternoon. I've fished OtterTail for a number of years and I don't remember the fishing being better than it is right now.

That is great! I am jealous since I have been hitting Star pretty hard and can only muster a 15"er or two. Tried fishing those same areas like you mentioned, marked lots of fish but could not get them to go. I tried crankin, lindy rigs, bottom bouncers, spinners with crawlers...they were just real stubborn on Saturday. I am confident that it will start again on Star real soon since I have had good success out there during the fall season.
I should have driven another 15 miles and fished Otter Tail!

Wow. I was there all weekend and we had nasty weather that precluded access to some of the nicer spots on Ottertail. Wind, rain and cold were a battle. We worked the edges out in front of the river and the "hole" out there with marginal sucess. A few humps produced nice pearch but the eyes were a poor show for sure. Later that night when the downpour came we tried the shallows with some cranks and had 2 fish in as many hours. Gave it up for a spot in front of the new wood stove.
Sunday AM was decent with 4 fish in an hour over by the Pier.
You must have found the hot spot.

Wow, I didn't know anyone went out on Sunday AM! I guess I'm not
hardcore enough. I stayed inside and watch the tube. Way to ccccoooolllddd Sunday, for this hombre! There really isn't many good spots to hide en' fish on Big Pine, when the wind is buckin' out of the North.

Had to take the boat out anyway, so we did a little bit on the way to the ramp. It was WAY cold for this hombre, too, but we did OK considering that. Speaking of COLD...we listened to COLDpepper choke all the way home. "short..., high..., to the right..., to the left...look at Carter wide open...what's Carter saying to the coaches?...does not look good..."
