I think I have 5-6 days free as of wednesday Oct 17. One last trip from Iowa north or west. What looks good? Baudette Minnesota, Waubay or Oahe in south Dakota? Lake Sharpe? Leech? Anybody have any suggestions??? Just me,, camper, and boat. Where would you go??

I have heard from several reliable people that Like Winnibigoshish in north central MN has been good recently. Walleyes have been abundant in good sizes.
Mille Lacs has also been good at night, trolling crankbaits over and along the shallow reefs.
Waubay has been very good for walleyes. They just put a new limit on perch on Waubay and that area. Good thing too, those perch were getting hammered. Now they need to protect the walleyes. Walleye fishing can be tremendous on Waubay, but they need to be protected.
The Rainy River has been hit or miss according to friends who fished there recently.
For northern pike, you won't beat Red Lake when the pike are on. However, I heard action there was hit or miss also, and with the wind, you are very limited as to when you can fish Red Lake.
Hope this gives you some ideas. Have a nice trip, and let us know how you do.

Fished Waubay last Thursday. Never felt a fish, and did not see anyone else catch one either all day. Pretty windy. drove to Baudette and fished there 3 days. Never saw so many boats, and catch so few fish. I was told it was not cold enough yet. Felt pretty cold in the snow though! I stayed on the river and the bay. There were some reports of a few people catching one or two big ones, but mostly no one was having a lot of luck. It was a nice trip though, never fished before when it was so cold or in that area!

the fall bite on the rainey is legendary, but until it begins it's
nothin'. people come from hundreds of miles away and miss it by a
week.
here is a great trip saver....if the river isnt going all the fish
are staged in the morris point and light house gaps out in the lake. these fish are gorging themselves on shinner minnows and young of the year perch. they are active and they are biting.
you will catch lots and lots of small fish, but you will catch many
good ones and some bonus sturgeon and eelpout (ick).
the fish are easy to find...from 14 to 30 feet of water outside of
either gap is the location to watch....keep your eye on your electronics until you see fish or those clouds of baitfish, anchor
and jig.
it is as close to a sure thing as there is in fishing. only a severe
wind direction change or huge cold front will slow em down. but
give em a few hours, or till the next morning and they will be
back. it is a 10am to 4pm bite so you can easily check the river
first and go to the lake as a "day saver"
i hope you come back for another run at the fall walleyes on lake of
the woods
