Just returned from west-central MN. We were at the south edge of the snow, but it seemed like a blizzard. Fished all day in 32-34 degree temps, heavy winds, and snow. The storm hit a day before it was supposed to. We fished on Ottertail Lake in the morning. Lots of waves, but the fish were active on some spots. However, we couldn't take a camera out in that weather: besides the producer wouldn't have been able to stand because of the waves.

Moved to a smaller lake and caught some walleyes and lm. bass. Got a short segment for our tv show.

The good thing was we had the spots to ourselves and there was no need for sunscreen. Those were the only things good about it.

We really questioned our common-sense, as did the people at the baitshop and the guy who pulled into the parking lot and wanted to know what we were doing. I guess fishing in rough water with snow swirling and fingers freezing is what some guys do for fun.

The open water season is almost over for another year.

A lake like Otter Tail on a day like yesterday is very hardcore man, that must have been fun.

Bob rivers are good for another month, maybe, so don't fog her just yet.

Bob,

At the tail end of this segment, when it airs, could you included the bloopers? Might be some good ones.

Been there, done that! Not saying that I felt truly sane either. What a mess. Nothing like having to pull a 4 wheeler out of the snow bank so I could land my boat! Hey, us fisherman are optimists, "it isn't that bad, lets give it a shot!" Right!

Bob I feel for ya. We had a group of ten that went to LOW NW Angle that week/weekend. Wow! What an eye opener reguarding safety. With 32 Deg. temps. and high winds we all got soaked on the way to Oak Island even though most of us have top notch gear. A person just doesn't realize how fast you can become REALLY cold till you've done that, or fall in ice fishing! Regardless, we caught plenty of fish and the action kept us warm enough to be just as crazy every day thereafter. I will say that some of the looks we got heading north with boats in tow through 6-12" of fresh snow was quite entertaining.........
