I have friends living close to Stone Lake Wis,,would like to make a trip up there this winter. Is lake couderay and grindstone lake a good choice for ice fishing for walleyes?would be there last of Dec, or right after new year.Reason i picked the are real close by..Thanks
Your best bet is Sissabagama, about 4 miles east of Stone Lake on BB. Plentiful walleye, mostly not large though. Crappie, gills, perch also abound. Spring lake just south of town is also a good panfish lake. Slim Lake also can be OK.
On the larger bodies you really need to know where to go and if you are going soon driving may not be an option. There is alot of distance to walk.
No matter what, the fact you are out there makes all the difference.
Good luck.
