I seem to be confused about Dubuque rigs and Wolf river rigs. Could someone please explain them both to me? Thanks,.....B

Here's how I would describe a Wolf River Rig and a Dubuque Rig. I have never used a Wolf River Rig in the Wolf River, but I have used them elsewhere. I have used the Dubuque Rig only on the Mississippi River near Dubuque.

First the Wolf River Rig. Tie a three-way swivel to the line from your rod. To the remaining line-ties on the three-way, you'll tie one line with hook, floating jig or minnow-bait. You should tie a sinker to the other line-tie. Most use the type of sinker that has a swivel molded into it. The sinker gets the bait to the bottom, while the bait or lure runs just above the bottom. You can experiment with lengths of the dropper lines back to the bait or down to the bottom.

With the Dubuque Rig, you simply replace the sinker with a jig. You will want the jig heavy enough to stay on the bottom. I once heard that Dubuque Rigs weren't legal everywhere, so you might want to check on that.

Hope this helps, and hope my attempts at describing the two rigs and clear.
