Cisco begin to school up near shore and in the bays. Northern pike really key on them. We have done well trolling crankbaits on
main lake headlands when this is happening. In November the cisco spawn on these headland shores and some of the biggest
northerns of the year can be caught. These larger northerns have been cruising around in deeper water all summer and the cisco
spawn brings them in to shallower water. Biologists say that ciscoes spawn at night and some day we will try that night fishing.
The water surface boils as the cisco spawn at the surface in a swirling mass with the big northerns lurking right under them.
