I read all the posts and was out looking today and have a few more questions.

I could not find the Arctic Cat but the dealer says it is the same as the Suzuki?

Also noticed a big difference in shifting between the Honda's and the Polaris - what do you prefer?

I am limited by space and can't get a monster so I've got too stick with the 300-400 range - This will be used almost exclusively for hauling the ice fishing equip to the lake - sometimes, conditions permitting, maybe on the lake. Most all of the ride is plowed road - will 2WD get thru a 4-6" snow cover?

The dealers all say no problem - what is the truth?

We have a Polaris Sportsman at work - I've used it a few times but don't recall ever needing to put it in 4wd.

Thanks for the help.

i didnt know there was still such a thing as a suzuki atv.

look in the yellow pages or look at www.arctic-cat.com/
for a dealer near you.

if you are going to get an atv you might as well get 4 wheel
drive especially if you will be around snow or ice and plan
on pulling.

check out the arctic cat if you can, it is worth a look..
then you can make a better informed purchase whichever
one you decide to go with.

Suzuki and Arctic Cat are not the same machines. Arctic Cat uses Suzuki motors and has for many years. I would suggest 4 wheel drive. I just picked up my Arctic Cat 375 automatic today and tested it in snow and if you are in more than about 6-8 inches of snow and are towing you will need 4 wheel drive. I looked at the Suzuki's also and wasn't one bit impressed I would suggest Arctic Cat or Polaris. I went with the automatic for my needs but there are a lot of good manuals out there to. If you want particulares on my purhcase feel free to email me at dan_jochum@yahoo.com

I have had two wheel drive and four wheel drive atv's. I have owned Yamaha,Honda, Polaris and have rode others. I am NOT a dealer but if you want to get where your going and back again, buy a Max or an Argo six wheels driving.
You should at least give them a try!
Good luck

If you are buying a quad go with the four wheel drive. You will never regret it. Suzuki quads are popular here in NW Ontario. I run chains when we pull the shacks out early. Two wheel drives with chains can go through some pretty deep snow and some of the guys here will even plow with them..........but........they are still two wheel drive and there is a world of difference in the capabilities.
