next time things are slow on the ice and you swear there isn't a walleye within a mile of your location try this: First, take 2 1 ounce bell sinkers and connect them with 3 inches of heavy wire, with a small ring halfway between the sinkers. Then tie a heavy line to the ring and connect that to a fairly stiff jigging rod. Lower the sinkers down near the bottom and jig up and down. This will cause the sinkers to bang together, producing a loud clacking sound. I'm convinced this trick put a couple extra eyes on the ice on my last trip to lake of the wood. Try it: it doesn't "not" work if you know what i mean.
