Can't beleive so the 2pc 7ft Aero was one of the last male top into female butt 2pc rods since then "everybody" went to 2pc wobbly top female over male connections. The fact that it did not have an eyelet on the lower peice was exasperating, but with the added rod taper well up towards the the ferrules and the Tennesse handles you would never know they were 2pc in Medium Heavy action, there has not been a decent fast two peice rod built by anybody in over 10 years. Top heavy and extra wobble, ;( small wonder a 1pc is more sensitive.

Fastest rod I beleive Shimano made and those eyelets are still available.

Hammertime that rod is 12-15 years old. It was explained to me today again by a freind who was involved more or less that this model in 2pc was actually three blanks and the single peice 2 blanks. Here this when Shimano first went to building graphite golf clubs due to overrun and less then demanding sales. They converted those handles into fishing rods. Sales on the 2pc. were less then that of the one and availability of either is non existent. The butt diameter compared to the tip diameter is so extreme with Aeros, this makes that rod. Unbeleivable how well a reel straps to a cork golf handle!
Wish you luck on that and if you come across a 2 pc....

Didn't Shamano just come out with a whole new line of rod(s)? Thought I saw them at Gander Mountain.

I have a Shimano Aero rod: magnumlite graphite AMG66 6-10# 6'6"
lure 1/8-1/2oz marked on the rod (it is a 2 piece rod). I don't use the rod much.

Hammertime, is the rod butt diameter around .650 or more?
If so its proably one of those handles, this rods cork flows right into the rod butt, no chunky ridge or glue lip just wondering.

jcd, does the lower half of the 6.6ft have an eyelet on it?

The upper half of the rod has 6 eyelets, the lower half (only 26+ inches long, including the cork handle) has no eyelet.

jcd, hammertime in your opion, what would the action of these rods be, Light, medium, medium heavy? Due to the construction all of the action is in the top half of the blank, its odd but my Medium action handed to somebody else. They have replied that it is a "pool" stick only 7ft rod that I can jig with, the all purpose rod. For casting accuracy this rod eats up all my other casting rods. In my mind you get 1/2 the spline twist in a cast that you get in a "odd" constructed single peice 7ft'r.

In my opinion my Aero 6'6" 2-piece is medium-light. For a 7' 1-piece my guess would be a medium to medium-heavy action.

its kinka stiff like a medium for casting but not really as stiff as one you would find nowdays, very user friendly and the thinner handle its got has the greatest feeling you can find in a pole. feels like a salmon hits when a fish hits this rod, "great feeling". mabee ill get lucky and run into another one or two, just cant find nothing in the newer rods thats got the right feeling im looking for. take care and tight lines.
