Park Rapids area lakes have about 5" on them. Portage, Hinds, Stocking and Twin are shallow lakes with good ice cover. Big Toad and Tullibee also have good ice having fished those myself. Just before dark four 15" to 19" walleyes tonight and Wednesday night, had six hits missed two each night. However,a ingredient is missing and that is light snow cover. For me light snow cover helps muffle sound and I find action better.......on most of the lake I ice fish. South Lida is good now for crappies and big ones. Unfortunately, I fish for fun and still have the same stuff as I did four years ago proably isn't available at the stores any more but it works anyway.....so I can't give a testimonial on equipment. Get out and enjoy but exercise caution the wind could opne up some of these lakes in the middle.
