I am new to the ice fishing game and was hoping for some info. What tecnique is used with jiging raps. Is it like a leadhead jig and just bounce it off the bottom or do you suspend it and shake it for action? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanx Fishy

Fishy, I normally jig the ice rapala with about a foot to two foot lift. I tip it with a minnow, and sometimes just the head of a minnow. The first thing you'll want to do is to take off the treble hook that it comes with and replace it with a larger one, preferably a long shank treble. A lot of hits will come just as it settles down, I will jig it and let it sit for 10-15 seconds and then jig it again, a lot of times they'll be there just as you start your lift again, and a lot of times they will hit it on the fall, if your line goes slack, set the hook, if you feel any thing different, set the hook. I have my best luck finding bottom and coming up 4-6 inches, but you will find them up higher sometimes to. Hope this helps, Wallygetter
