As a Christmas gift from her to her husband, a wife of a good friend has asked me to recommend where she could surprise him with a one week fishing trip. He fishes out of Huron and she would like to not have him drive further than 12 to 14 hours. She asked about "drive to" Canadian trips. Any recommendations for decent camps at that drive time? As an alternative, I suggested a three day charter trip to either Lake Ontario or Lake Michigan for Salmon. Any good Charter captains you are familiar with? Thanks

I took my son for his birthday and several guys on an awesome trip out of Oak Orchard on Lk Ontario several seasons back. This guy is the oldest charter out of the Oak with the largest boat a 33' Flybridge Pen Yan with a 12' beam. Oak Orchard Chamber of Commerce raises and stocks salmon, brown and rainbows besides what the state supplies.
There is an excellent fall derby there you may want to try to time your trip with.
