Hi
Cool nights and below freezing daytime temperatures helped put down a little more ice since last week - enough for most of the resorts around the lake to open their roads up to vehicle traffic. As always, check with your resort for driving limitations before you go.
The perch bite has been decent in Wahkon and Cove Bay - small Kastmasters or Gem-n-Eyes tipped with some type of bug or a fathead is your best bet. Most of these perch are being found in 8-12 feet of water.
The walleye bite remains inconsistent - some folks are doing well, others are struggling. The best bite has been on the S.E. mud flats. Shiners on a glow jig have worked best.
There is very little snow on the lake.
The weather for the weekend looks like this:
Friday
Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 20s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night
Mostly cloudy. Lows in the teens...then temperatures steady or slowly rising into the lower 20s. South winds around 10 mph.
Saturday
Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of light snow. Highs in the lower 30s.
Saturday Night
Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 20s.
Sunday
Mostly cloudy. A chance of light snow in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 30s. Chance of snow 40 percent.
Sunday Night
Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 20s.
The new moon is January 2nd.
Once again this winter we will be renting FL18's, power augers, Fish Traps and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.
Have a great weekend,
