Spent several hours on the ice here in western Minnesota the past two days with mixed results. Saturday we started on a lake near Fergus Falls in search of bluegills, but found perch and not 'gills. From there we headed to a small lake and found good numbers of bluegills. Lots of small fish, but some nice-sized fish as well. Returned to the same water today and had a good bite for a bit until a weather front came through kicking up strong northwest winds and dropping the air temperature 15 degrees.
Last nite we ended our day in pursuit of walleyes on a lake near Alexandria. Three of us landed seven walleyes ranging in size from 14-21". The best bite was in around 10 1/2 feet of water. Buck-Shot Rattle Spoons have produced well on this lake, though last nite bobber rods were productive as well.
