ice quality spirit lake

They finally dropped one in (pickup) on Big Spirit on the east side yesterday. Ice quality is questionable at best. Some areas have 15+ inches others 4" or less, who knows what lies inbetween. Be careful!

Hi Jed, Thanks for the update, some wierd ice out there this year that's for sure. I hope no-one got hurt up there. I was on Emerson Bay Monday night and while I was loading up at the ramp two young kids pulled up to me in a stationwagon from out on the ice and asked what bay they were in? I asked where they drove on at and they said "somewhere over by Arnolds Park", then when I asked where they were trying to get to they said Millers Bay. Well after I gave them H for driving on the ice in the dark and told them about the open water and seams I led them to Millers on the Highway. I'm stilled ticked about how stupid they were. Wow, fatherhood is gonna be hard on us pretty soon.

Things like that makes me glad i have 2 girls. That is just unreal anyone would be that stupid!!

Tracy, don't think you are in the clear. This was a young lad and his girlfriend who looked about 14-16 yrs old. Another kid and his girlfriend died last week on Minnetonka when they drove into open water in the dark. Take care, see ya at the awards banquet.
