I'd like to try some Lake Michigan fishing this year near Chicago. Does anyone have tips on areas near Chicago to fish Walleye, Smallmouth or other species other than Trout or Salmon? Any help would be appreciated.

I would try the river in New Buffalo Michigan for fall walleye, and the hot water discharge from the steel miils around Gary Ind. can be great in the early spring or late winter, just be mindful of the ice pack, (flows) and don't get trapped away from your launch. All manner of species can be caught near the steel mills.

walleye wrangler are you a local around here? Got a boat last year and am wondering about the same thing. i launch from 95th street. If you fish over there must need an indiana license. trying to figure things out

I'm from battle Creek, Mi but I have fished that area both in the fall and winter (mild). If you fish in Indiana waters you'll need a out of state license, same for Michigan waters.
