Can anyone recommend a guide for a river trip in the Guttenburg, Iowa area in early spring? I would like to fish below the dams along that area of the Mississippi, and need a good guide who knows the river and where to get the "Big Ones"!
Thank you,

Jim Oberfell (sp?) runs out of Dubuque and is really well respected. Check out his bait shop on the north side of Dubuque.

I had a bad experience with Jim. I would look elsewhere.

You already gave him a black eye. Might as well tell the story.

Jim and I guide some of the same pools including pool 10 and I have to say this is the first negative I have ever heard. On the other hand I have heard numerous positives. Lawrence Ecklor

Not to bad at Bellevue. You will half to wade through the little guys to get a keeper. That was before this cold front.Pretty much bumper boat fishing going on.Good Luck I think it will be the same below any dam right now.
