GLOBAL MAP 1600

I just received a new Global map 1600 and was wondering some of the things that the smart map does for you.
I was playing with it on My pc but couldnt bring up a map.

What tricks do you use the IMS for?
I have had GPS for years and download from my Garmin to my pc.

Do you upload from the CD rom ?

I've used the LMS-160, but am installing the 1600 this week. The CDrom contains map detail such as bouy's and shipwrecks and such info. You select the locale you want upload to your gps and the software transfers it. More detailed information can be purchased showing reefs, etc. Details are on the Lowrance site for this.

I don't have the setup in front of my so I'm trying to go from memory, can't recall the exact program to run to transfer detail.

MapCreate is the program. Navionics also sells more detailed maps you can purchase with depth contours and other additions.
