submersible reel?

I enjoy crappie fishing in waders. Many times I wade over my stomach. With a 12 foot pole, when you hook a fish you have to put the reel under water to get the fish close to you to unhook it. This is ruining my reel(drag sticking,etc) Is there a reel meant to be submerged? Are fly reels ok with being submerged? The reel doesn't need to cast well, it only needs to have a good drag due to light line. The type of fishing is just standing in the water jigging under a plopper, so no casting is involved.
