well not everyone day is a walleye-day and today both Steve Schreiner of Marshfield, Wisconsin along with his significant other, Roc####e spent the morning hours into lunch and we were casting for Northern Pike.
Water conditions, surface temps. at 68' at our start and 71', winds were pushing out of the north and creating a nice morning chop along with chill in the air that was very comfortable indeed.
Lot's of northern pike exist throughout these bays of both Little and Big Bay de Noc and indeed are fun to catch.
We covered weedbeds from the northend of Nelson's Bay, the Reefs off the western shore near Kipling, Butler Island weedbeds both east and west sides along with the Beach House of Gladstone.
Spinnerbaits, spoons and minnow baits with spinnerbaits in chartruese/orange being the top fish catchers this day.
Although northern pike fishing was the goal, Steve managed in catching one really nice walleye along with 4 nice pike as well seeing several other walleyes and pike to the boat.
Keep in touch anglers wishing you luck this upcoming weekend,
Capt. Marty
