We are finalizing our times for television for 2004. Is 11:00 p.m. Sunday evening a good time for a fishing show or any show in general?
There are several television station people that I work with that say 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Sundays are good times. Ratings last year indicated that 11:00 p.m. on Sunday was better than 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. However, I want to hear from real people who watch tv, as ratings can be very slanted.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Fishes,
Bob, in my opinion, I doesn't matter. That is because I'll tape your show at either time!!!!
9:00 in the morning in NW Iowa equals church, thus I tape it then. 11:00 Sunday nights with 3 young kids, I'd like to say most of those nights I'm getting ready for bed at least! Again, I would tape the show.
Aren't VCR's a wonderful thing!
Looking forward to seeing your new shows!

Personally, I like the idea of your show running at 11pm. At 11pm you won't have to compete with all the other outdoor shows that run during the early morning, and I won't have to do the picture in picture thing to watch them all at the same time. You may loose some of the old foggies that can't stay up that late, but the die hards will be tuned in.

Bob,
My personal choice would be 11 AM on Sunday. By 11 PM I'm visiting with the sandman. I really enjoy your show and would not like to miss it due to such a late time slot. Keep up the good work!

Bob
I really enjoy your shows and would like to be able to see them again here in central Iowa. Late Sunday evening (11 PM or any other sunday evening times) would be most convenient for me (we are in church during Sunday AM).
Thanks for asking
Clark
Bob, I would say that what you have had in the past works well for me. I would most definitely like it somtime in the am.
I would be forced to tape the show at 11:00 or 11:30 pm as that is shut-eye time for me.
I can go to early or late church depending on when the shows that I want to watch are on.
Good Luck this next year!

Bob, we're lucky up-north to be able to see your show at a reasonable time, but to not see it at all would not be very good. It's better to be on a station early or late than not to be on at all.

Bob,
I assume that many outdoor shows are on weekends because ad rates are less expensive. To me, it just doesn't make any sense to have a show for people who enjoy the outdoors during a time when many of them are doing just that, enjoying the outdoors (or going to church, or both).
Taping of course is an option. Remembering to set the VCR, though, can preclude getting to see the show. I'd vote for a 10:30 weekday.
Good luck, and thanks for asking

Bob,
I am going to reiterate some of the other views. Sunday at 11:00am I am at church but I do tape all your shows. Sunday evening at 11:00pm is too late for me, another tape job. Sunday after luch around 12:30 or 1:00pm would be a good time in my opinion.

Thank you all very much for your feedback. There are so many different thoughts on times to air our shows, and they all make good sense.
11:00 Sunday morning is good for some folks, others are in church, ice-fishing, traveling, etc.
10:30, 11:00, even 11:30 at night is good for a surprising number of people. They are home for the day, but not ready to call it a day yet. However, some folks are in bed by this time, me included. VCR's save the day at this time.
Two years ago we aired at 9:00 a.m. in Sioux Falls, last year we aired at 11:00 p.m. on the same channel. 11:00 p.m. had double the viewers.
We know we won't please everybody, but we try.
Additionally, there are fewer and fewer times available for outdoor programming. The networks are taking so much time away from the local affiliates, so there is only so much time left for outdoor shows. This also makes the costs go higher.
Daytime hours during the week just aren't available, nor are primetime hours during the week. Outdoor programming is getting squeezed. Fortunately, Fishing the Midwest has earned a very good relationship with the stations that we have been airing on.
Again, thank you very much for your thoughts. I sincerely appreciate your interest and input. Keep it coming.

Just get it on the air her in Huskerland!
Todd
Yup, got her... oh yeah... feel that head shake!
Bob,
11 pm Sunday would be my pick. Ron Schara and MN Bound here in the Twin Cities is on Sunday night at 10:35, and I rarely miss it. Nothing else competes with it, and we watch the news and then MN Bound, then to sleep. It feels wierd when I DON'T catch it on Sunday night. It just seems to complete the week, and start a new one on a good note.
I think FTM would be a great show to watch at 11 pm on Sunday - hopefully you could do that here in Twin Cities ;) Then I'd have 1 hour of good programing to end one week and start another.
I basically watch NO outdoor shows in the summer except Sunday night, cause I am always "outdoors" at that time, as others have said. And I am too lazy to tape shows...
Anyway, I hope you do PM Sunday here in Twin Cities, but I usually could catch it at 11 am on Sunday morn - though 11:30 would be better on Sunday morn... :)
