As I sit and wait for ice I thought I’d write to share my plight.
I have checked my gear and seen it snow, but in the back of my mind I think I may need to mow.

I have read the rags and been to shows, I know the spots but cannot go.

I have seen the Chubby Darter and the three blade auger but without ice I cannot fish for sauger.

My pain is felt by some you say, I cannot wait another day.

People have questioned my sanity before, but now without ice they question it more.

What can I do? How do I cope? If this goes much longer I may need a rope.

Should I move north? Canada Eh? The price of gas would run me away.

You say my wordsmithing is marginal at best - You can do better - I think you jest.

Man, it dosen't take long for the cabin fever to set in. In the words of our infamous ex-president, "I feel your pain." Pray for ice!

Move to canada? Until last week it was 40 To 50 degrees or more where I am from. It has been unseasonably warm all over this country.

Good news is, one of the four lakes I Fish on has frozen, other 3 are still open. I am going to give hard water a try on Saturday. Temperatures for Saturday again are to be above freezing

None to soon for hard water either, I think Momma was going to kill me, hangin around the house all the time gettin on her nerves. I set up my new ice fishing tent up so many times, it is just about worn out.

Look for the Ode to Ice coming to a message board near you.

Curtis

While you sit and pine for ice
I look at water and think it's nice
That I can jump into my boat
Don't need to chop to make it float

We launch our Skeeter from the dock
Were nailing Eyes at Bay de Noc
The fish are biting very well
10 pounders lurk below the swell

So go and dream of ice and snow
But I love to hear my Mercury go
We'll soon be driving on the ice
But till then my trolling is my vice

FYI -- All, or parts of 13 US states are farther north than parts of Canada. In Minnesota on Lake Namakan you can face south and look at Canada. All of Michigan is farther north than the southern tip of Pelee Island in lake Erie.
