HI is there damage done when a crossbow is dry fired ? don't no so I though someone out there would know .

It will cause damage to dry fire a cross bow or any bow.
I would change the "will" to COULD or may in the previous response~~~~nevertheless... it's NOT!! a good thing to do!!

Absolutely ,there is nothing in place to absorb the energy so your limbs will absorb it. NOT GOOD
Depending on what kind of crossbow it is makes a difference, but under no conditions is it reccommended.some crossbows have a no-dryfire safety on them. on my horton, it takes 2 people to make it able to dry fire it, a safety precaution. good luck and good fishin-huntin.
