I have a family reunion to go to this weekend and I wanted to find out if much has been happening with the catfishing on Clear Lake. I will be a shore angler this weekend so if someone could recomend some areas and baits to try I'd appreciate the help. Also, if anyone knows the name of the campground/park on the south side of the lake that would be helpful. I used to always go to this reunion but started missing it when I went to college. I guess I did kill a few brain cells :) :) Thanks in advance.

I think the park is just called Clear Lake State Park, public shore fishing: There is a fishing area in Ventura, the far west end, called "The grate". This is a man made T structure that goes out into the lake a bit to get you off shore. Parking on the west side of the highway in a lot. There is also a public fishing dock near The harborage condos on the north shore about 3 miles west of the Clear Lake city park along the north shore in town.

Go to the 15th St. dock just north of Heartland Inn, it is a public access. Chicken liver or minnows with slip bobbers were working well before this cold front hit. Catfish in the 1-3 lb. range are common off this dock.

Thanks guys,
I hope this cold front doesn't slow'em down to much. It's been known to happen though
