Just returned from a trip to Lake of the Woods. First time I've been out on the reefs. Long run, must have reliable boat/motor that can handle big water. You must also watch the weather. If the wind is going to be stronger than 15 mph, don't go out. We ran about 20 miles out.

Fished with John Peterson, he knows walleyes and Lake of the Woods really well. We took walleyes up to about 29 inches on Roach Rigs.

Size average was really nice mostly over 22 inches with some small ones. Biggest walleye was really a beat up looking fish, but fought well.

We pretty much had the reefs to ourselves, Lake of the Woods doesn't seem to get a lot of summer fishing pressure.

We taped a segment for our Fishing the Midwest tv series on LOTW, will air in first quarter.

Stayed at Wig Wam Resort. Nice cabin. 800-448-9260
