Hi
Not too many folks on Mille Lacs the past few days - big wind and big rain kept all but a few hardy anglers off the lake. We saw some nice walleye catches last weekend in the shallow rocks - leeches/slip bobbers over 10 feet and 7 feet and even as little as 3 feet of water! Conditions were perfect to pull into the shallow stuff... conditions much like those forecasted for this coming weekend. Crankbaits continue to produce fish after dark - this approach should get even better over the next several weeks. A few folks hit some bigger perch over the weekend as well - stick to 4-5 feet in the weeds with small leeches and an "I-bob" jig.
Yes, we still have big leeches!
Beginning Monday, September 13th, all smallmouth STATEWIDE must be released immediately.
The weather for the weekend (as reported by Weatherunderground) looks like

Finally...
Ole and Sven were taking their first train trip to the big city. A vendor came down the corridor selling cheesecake, which they'd never tasted before. Each bought one. Ole eagerly bit into his piece just as the train went into a tunnel. When the train emerged from the tunnel, he looked across to Sven and said, "I wouldn't eat that if I were you." "Why not?" asked Sven. "I took one bite" says Ole, "and went blind for half a minute!"
Have a great weekend,
