Hi
This is the weekend many of you "night owls" have been waiting for - the famed September full moon! Much has been written about the affect of moon phases and walleye fishing... here's your chance to prove 'em right or wrong. Whatever your favorite approach; trolling, bobbering or casting... now is the time! So far through the week, we've watched some pretty good (and some not so good) catches come in - the key here is going to be your mobility... you can't wait for the fish to come to you.
Our top reefs for the upcoming weekend - Agate, 3-mile, Shaw's, Anderson's, Rocky, Indian Point and Myr Mar.
Our top crankbaits - Rattlin Rogues, #10, 12 & 14 Husky Jerks, #11 and 13 F-series Raps, Shad Raps, Wally Divers and Salmos (deeper water or for casting).
Our top colors - Black (shad), blue and clown. The same colors apply for your jigs under the slip bobbers.
As of today, slip bobbers/leeches still account for well over 2/3's of the successful trips on Mille Lacs - divide your time proportionately.
Surface temps are still in the low 60's
Yes, we still have big leeches!
The weather for the weekend (according to WeatherUnderground) looks like
this:
Friday: Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. Highs 60 to 65. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows around 45. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny. Highs around 70. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear. Lows around 50.
Sunday: Mostly sunny. Highs around 70.
The full moon is Tuesday, 9-28-04
At this point, all the reef markers are still in the water - this would be a great time to get these spots in your GPS for future fall fishing. Expect the markers to be removed in the next several weeks (as weather permits).

Finally...
After many years of marriage, a Ole has turned into a couch potato, became completely inattentive to his wife, Lena, and sits guzzling beer and watching TV all day. Lena was dismayed because no matter what she did to attract Ole's attention, he'd just shrug her off with some bored comment. This went on for many months and Lena was going crazy. Then one day at a pet store, Lena saw this big, ugly, snorting bird with a hairy chest, powerful hairy forearms, beady eyes and dribble running down the side of its mouth. The shopkeeper, observing her fascination with the bird, told her it was a special imported "Goony bird" and it had a very peculiar trait. To demonstrate, he exclaimed, "Goony bird! The table!" Immediately, the Goony bird flew off its perch and with single-minded fury attacked the table and smashed it into a hundred little pieces with its powerful forearms and claws! To demonstrate some more, the shopkeeper said, "Goony bird! The shelf!" Again the Goony bird turned to the shelf and demolished it in seconds. "Wow!" said Lena, "If this doesn't attract Ole's attention, nothing will!" So she bought the bird and took it home. When she entered the house, Ole was, as usual, sprawled on the sofa guzzling beer and watching the game. "Ole!" she exclaimed, "I've got a surprise for you! A Goony bird!" Ole, in his usual bored tone replied, "Goony Bird, my foot!"
Have a great weekend,
